A female Homo erectus skull found at the Buia site in Eritrea indicates, along with other remains of this species found on the African continent, a wide range of variation in this species, and also shows similarities with Indonesian remains of Homo erectus. Although the skull has thick occipital arches, it has been attributed to a female individual due to the remains of the pelvis, which suggest a female morphology, and which were found in the same context as the skull.
