REPRODUCTION

Reproduction is the process by which an organism creates offspring, i.e., its copy or a similar descendant, thus maintaining its species.

Reproduction is significant for the development of life on Earth. For life to continue, the simplest molecules had to develop the ability to multiply — to create copies of themselves.

There are several types of reproduction:
BINARY FISSION
The most common way of cell division is binary fission, where two identical daughter cells are produced.

MULTIPLE FISSION
Some algae and certain protozoans divide by multiple fission, where the nucleus divides several times before the cell divides.

REPRODUCTION OF MULTICELLULAR ORGANISMS
In multicellular organisms, the methods of reproduction vary greatly, ranging from asexual reproduction that produces identical individuals (clones) to sexual reproduction involving reproductive cells.
